Peppermint Kiss Cookies

Peppermint Kiss Cookies

These cookies scream Christmas. Peppermint kisses are usually only sold during the christmas season. We wanted to put them in some cookies, so of course peppermint extract had to be used to make them even more minty.

If you like peppermint, then you have to make these when you can. Even if you don't like peppermint, you will still like these. The peppermint extract adds a small hint that compliments the flavor of the kiss.

Recipe:

1 C butter
1 1/2 C powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp peppermint extract (optional)
1 egg
3 C all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup chopped candy cane flavored Hershey's kisses
30 unwrapped candy can flavored Hershey's kisses
granulated sugar for rolling

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350. Place kisses in the freezer
1. In a large bowl combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
2. In a bowl combine powdered sugar and butter beat until creamy
3. Add in the extracts and egg, beat until combined and creamy
4. Mix the dry and wet ingredients, stir in the chopped kisses
5. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in the granulated sugar
6. Bake cookies on parchment lined cookie sheet 1 inch apart
7. Bake for 8-12 min or until set
8. As soon as they come out of the oven place the kisses that were in the freezer in the center of each cookie. (We place the kisses in the freezer because it helps them hold the shape when they are put in the hot cookie)
9. Let the cookies set, then enjoy!

Let the kisses set completely before you touch them, otherwise they will lose their shape!
